The rally continued in the sixth as outfielder JJ Young singled in a run and scored on an RBI double by catcher Carter Allen. Outfielder Connor Earleywine capped the scoring with another RBI single as the Lions pulled within 8-7.

However, the Hornets tallied three runs in each the seventh and eighth innings to lead 14-8. The Lions had the first three runners reach in the eighth as they pushed across two more runs but Emporia scored two more in the top of the ninth.
