FORT SMITH, Ark. – No. 17 University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball will look for the season sweep as the Lions visit Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State this week.
The Lions will visit Missouri Southern at 7:30 p.m. Thursday before traveling to Pittsburg State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS bounced back with a pair of home wins, defeating Newman and Emporia State at the Stubblefield Center.
TOP 25: The Lions dropped one spot to No. 17 in this week's NABC/Division II Top 25.
SEEING DOUBLE: Guard Christian Moore posted a double-double in each win last week, recording 25 points with 10 assists in the win over Newman and 10 points and 11 assists in the victory over Emporia State.
LEAGUE LEADER: Moore leads the MIAA in assist/turnover ratio at 3.2 and is third in the league with 5.3 assists per game.
AROUND THE NATION: the Lions rank in the top 10 nationally in both bench points per game (38.4) and rebounds per game (41.9).
THE FIRST TIME: The Lions defeated Pitt State, 72-58, and Missouri Southern, 90-83 at the beginning of the month. Guard Brandon Scott had a career-high 33 points in the win over Missouri Southern.
SCOUTING MSSU: The Lions are 9-8, 3-5 MIAA with a 7-3 record at home. MSSU ranks third in the MIAA in scoring at 86.8 points per game, led by guard Jaden Taylor at 19.6 per game.
SCOUTING PSU: The Gorillas are 11-7, 5-3 MIAA after dropping their last two contests. PSU sports a 7-2 home record with guard Connor Rogers third in the MIAA in scoring at 20.2 points per game while guard Mason English leads the league with 5.9 assists per game.
THE SERIES: UAFS is 4-5 all-time versus Missouri Southern and 2-4 against Pittsburg State.
