PITTSBURG, Kan. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball was unable to slow No. 15 Pittsburg State Friday as the Lions dropped game two of the series, 9-4.
The Gorillas once again struck in the third inning, scoring four times for a 4-0 lead. UAFS cut the deficit in half in the top of the fifth, as outfielder CJ Snowden tripled in a run to right center before scoring on an RBI single by outfielder Sammy Seeger.
However, Pitt State scored five unanswered runs before the Lions scored in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Jackson Down. Seeger then drove in another run in the ninth on his second hit of the day.
Snowden also tallied a double on the afternoon while infielder Nico Patrick collected two hits, as well. Infielder Noah Davis had a hit and scored twice.
Grant Shankle started and went 6.2 innings before Aden Almeida tossed the final 1.1 frames in relief.
UAFS concludes the season tomorrow with the Gorillas at 12 p.m.
