EDMOND, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball struck first but was unable to hold on as the Lions dropped the series finale to Central Oklahoma, 4-1, Sunday.
Outfielder Cooper White led off the second with a single and stole second before catcher Ryan Riggs with an RBI single to right. The Lions put runners on base in seven of nine innings but were only able to scratch across the lone run.
UCO tied the game in the top of the third and then took the lead on a two-run homer in the fourth. The Bronchos added a run in the eighth for the final tally.
Outfielder Randon Ray led the Lions with two hits, including a triple, while outfielder Sammy Seeger walked three times.
Brayden Ross tossed seven-plus innings on the mound, allowing four runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. Aden Almeida tossed two scoreless innings in relief to end the game.
UAFS next visits Rogers State at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
