CLAREMORE, Okla. – Chase Pair turned in another masterful outing on the mound and infielder Matthew Schilling hit a two-run double as University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball defeated Rogers State, 3-2, Tuesday.
Pair went eight innings on the mound, earning his fourth straight midweek win. He allowed two runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts and has tossed at least seven innings with two earned runs or fewer in all four of those starts.
The Lions scored all three runs in the fourth inning, when Schilling doubled to right with the bases loaded to drive in a pair. Infielder Noah Davis drove in the third run on a sacrifice fly.
Rogers State tallied one run on a pair of doubles in the fifth and then pulled within a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Grant Shankle made his second relief appearance of the season, working around a leadoff walk in the ninth to earn his second save.
UAFS continues MIAA action this weekend as the Lions visit Missouri Western for a three-game series beginning Friday.
