FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Tennis earned its first victory of the season with a 7-0 win over Quincy at The Hangout.
UAFS took the early lead by claiming the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 & 3. Arianna De Bernardo and Taylor Conway won 7-5 at the top spot while Sofia Tominaga and Gracie Pereff shut out their opponent, 6-0, at No. 3.
The Lions then cruised through singles action, with De Bernardo winning, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 and Conway leading 5-0 in the first set before winning by retirement.
Tominaga was the lone Lion to battle for three sets, taking a 6-4, 6-7, 10-6 win at No. 3. Antonietta Bocache claimed a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Isabella Serrano won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5. Pereff closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.
UAFS will go for back-to-back wins Wednesday as they host Sterling College at 11 a.m.
