JOPLIN, Mo. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball was held to just four hits in a 3-0 defeat at Missouri Southern on Saturday.
Grant Shankle tossed all eight innings on the mound, allowing eight hits and striking out two, but a three-run homer in the fourth by Missouri Southern provided the only scoring in the game.
UAFS loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth, but the runners were left stranded on an infield fly and strikeout. The Lions had just one baserunner the rest of the game.
Outfielder Sammy Seeger had two of the four hits for the Lions.
The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
