Lewis tallies game-winner as Lions sweep season series with Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. – Forward Isaiah Lewis laid in the game-winner with 32 seconds left as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball earned the season sweep over Central Oklahoma with a 74-70 road win Thursday.

Tied at 70, Lewis drove to the basket to put the Lions ahead, 72-70. The Bronchos then missed a pair of free throws on the ensuing possession, and guard Tommie Williams drained his two shots from the line to go up by two possessions with just five seconds left.

UAFS had taken a five-point lead in the second half, but a three-point play by the Bronchos put them ahead, 62-59. The Lions answered with a 6-0 run and later led 70-66 before UCO tied the game with just under a minute remaining.

The Lions fell behind early, 6-0, but rallied to take an 11-10 lead. The margin never grew beyond five points, and the Lions regained the lead at 49-46 with 12:51 left after a 7-0 run. The run extended to 11-1 as the Lions led, 53-47, before the Bronchos tied the game at 59-59.

Lewis led the Lions with 12 points, going 6-for-7 from the field. Guard Roland McCoy added 11 points off the bench, while guards Elijah Wilson and Terrell Williams Jr. each tallied 10 points. Guard Tommie Williams was all over the floor, providing seven points, seven boards, seven assists and three steals.

UAFS had a 42-32 advantage in points in the paint and a 20-12 edge in fast break points.

The Lions conclude the regular season Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Rogers State.
