TEXARKANA, Tex. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis wrapped up its fall schedule over the weekend, competing in the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagle Invite.
Kevin Praphan and Rodrigo Hoppe highlighted the weekend with a Flight 3 doubles championship, advancing to the semifinals on a walkover and then to the championship with a 9-7 win over UT Permian Basin. The duo then captured the title with a 9-8 victory over the host Eagles.
In singles action, Birk Arwedahl won 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 and 6-3, 6-0 as he advanced to the Flight 2 championship, where he finished runner-up with after a 6-2, 6-3 defeat to Frode Neumann of Southern Arkansas.
Praphan played for a second championship in Flight 6 singles after earning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-2 wins in the first two rounds. He then came up short, 6-4, 6-1 against Lucas Martinez of Southern Arkansas in the final.
Hoppe won his opening round singles match in Flight 3, 6-4, 6-2, before dropping his semifinal matchup, 6-4, 6-1.
UAFS will now gear up for the spring season, which is slated to start February 1 against Delta State.
