Five score in double figures in defeat at Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball couldn't slow down Northeastern State Thursday, falling, 82-69, on the road against the RiverHawks.

The Lions scored the first basket of the game and went toe-to-toe with the RiverHawks over the first 20 minutes, trading baskets before NSU led 37-33 at halftime.

However, NSU shot 58.6 percent in the second half as they turned a 37-35 game into a double-digit deficit for the Lions.

UAFS got back within six at the 12:30 mark and again within nine with 3:34 left but was unable to get the stops needed to make a comeback.

The Lions had five players score in double figures, with guards VJ Reeves and Terrell Williams Jr. each scoring 13 points. Forward Isaiah Lewis contributed 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds while guards Tommie Williams and Roland McCoy tallied 11 points apiece.

UAFS will have the weekend to regroup before visiting Newman January 23 at 7:30 p.m.
