Tennis wraps up regular season against Midwestern State, Lubbock Christian

FORT SMITH, Ark. – The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith tennis teams concluded their regular seasons Saturday against Lubbock Christian, with the Lions dropping a nailbiter on the men's side, 4-3, while the women were defeated, 5-1.

The men's match was tied at 3-3 until the Chaparrals won the last match at No. 6 singles.

UAFS took the 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point, with Eduardo Bribiesca and Anis Ramchane teaming up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 while Eddie Hunter and Juan Patino earned a 7-5 win at No. 3.

The Lions then claimed wins at the top two singles spots, with Ramchane winning, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 and Juan Rosello winning 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2.

Camila Romero picked up the lone win in the women's match, defeating her opponent, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 3.

Friday saw the Lions play a pair of ranked Midwestern State teams, with the Lions dropping a 5-2 decision in the men's match and a 7-0 decision in the women's match.

Bribiesca and Patino each won in three sets at Nos. 3 & 5, respectively, against the Mustangs for the two points.

Next up for the Lions is the Lone Star Conference Championship April 25-27 at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.
