FORT SMITH, Ark. – Home runs by outfielders Blayse Quarnstrom and Brandon Ulmer weren't enough for University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball Saturday, as the Lions fell in the series finale, 13-5, to No. 4 West Texas A&M at Crowder Field.
The Buffs scored seven times in the first inning and had a 9-0 lead before Quarnstrom hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the second.
Infielder Jordon Helm collected an RBI groundout in the third to make it 13-4, with Ulmer then hitting a solo home run in the ninth for the final tally.
Ulmer went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored on the day while catcher Nico Patrick collected two hits.
Devon Chapa and Lukas Petross each tossed three innings in relief for the Lions.
Next on the schedule is a trip to Easter New Mexico April 5-7.
