Ross pitched his second complete game of the season as he shut out the Hilltoppers in game one. He scattered four hits and two walks while striking out a season-high seven. Twice he erased base runners with a double play and got out of a two-out jam in the third with a fielder's choice.
The Lions gave Ross all the offense he would need in the top of the first, when infielder Jordon Helm hit his first career home run to put the Lions up 1-0. Two batters later, infielder Dakota Peters put the Lions up 3-0 with a two-run homer.
UAFS added a fourth run in the third when Peters singled and later scored on a wild pitch.

The Lions scored first once again with an RBI double by outfielder Michael Brinton in the opening frame, but a four-run third inning by the Hilltoppers allowed them to split the doubleheader.
Peters hit his second home run of the day in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-2, but the Hilltoppers tallied a run in the bottom half of the inning and added two insurance runs in the sixth for the final tally.
Riley Lowry started game two on the mound for the Lions, surrendering four runs over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.
