FORT SMITH, Ark. – Guard Payton Brown scored a game-high 24 points in reserve as University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball dropped a 104-76 decision to No. 5 Dallas Baptist Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
After DBU scored the first six points of the game, the Lions answered with four straight points to make it 6-4. But DBU then went on a 13-0 run over three minutes with the Lions unable to chip away at the deficit.
Brown shot 8-for-14 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Guard Tyler Frederick tallied 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting while forward Ryan Maxwell scored 10 points with five rebounds.
Guard Cameron Bush pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while guard Kevin Hamilton scored his first seven collegiate points.
UAFS finished 52.7 percent from the floor but just 26.1 percent from three and committed 24 turnovers. DBU had a 36-10 edge in points off turnovers and 28 fast break points.
Next up for the Lions is a matchup at Texas A&M International on Thursday.
