SAN ANTONIO – A 19-5 run in the final 4:18 in the first half allowed St. Mary's to pull away from University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball Thursday as the Rattlers defeated the Lions, 90-57.
The Lions had leads of 8-7 and 15-13 before the Rattlers went on a 7-2 run. UAFS continued to answer each St. Mary's basket, tying the game at 20-20.
A 5-0 run by St. Mary's gave the Rattlers the lead, and then the Rattlers went 7-for-10 from the field including three triples in the final four minutes to lead 48-29 at the half. The Rattlers shot 51.3 percent in the first half and 52.2 percent for the game.
Guard Roland McCoy scored in double figures for the eighth straight game, scoring 17 points on 7of-14 shooting and 3-for-5 from distance. Guard Payton Brown added 11 points and forward Furaha Cadeaux de Dieu had eight rebounds. The Lions shot 42.3 percent from the field.
Turnovers plagued the Lions, as they turned it over 23 times, leading to a 23-7 edge in points off turnovers for the Rattlers.
UAFS will look to bounce back Saturday at St. Edward's at 3 p.m.
