Men's Basketball looks to add to winning streak at St. Mary's, St. Edward's

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball looks to build off the momentum of its first two conference wins when the Lions visit St. Mary's and St. Edward's.

The Lions will visit St. Mary's at 7:30 Thursday then wrap up the weekend Saturday at St. Edward's at 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The Lions earned their first two conference wins of the year by defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International.

POTW: Guard Cameron Bush was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals in the two wins. He had eight rebounds and six steals in the win over TAMUK then had 11 points, four boards and three steals in the win over TAMIU.

GETTING DEFENSIVE: UAFS held its opponents to 57.0 points per game and 36.0 percent from the floor in its two wins, including just 19.0 percent from three. The 51 points and 32.7 percent shooting for the Dustdevils in Saturday's game were both season best marks for the UAFS defense.

DYNAMIC DUO: Over the last seven games, guards Roland McCoy and Payton Brown have paced the Lions with 17.4 and 13.7 points per game, respectively. McCoy has scored in double figures in all seven games and Brown in 11 of the last 13.

RECORD WATCH: Brown is sixth with 1,038 career points while guard Cameron Bush is 10th with 165 assists. Brown also ranks ninth in field goals made and fifth in made threes.

SCOUTING STMU: The Rattlers are 6-9, 2-6 LSC after splitting their games last weekend and are under the direction of first-year head coach Bubba Meyer. St. Mary's allows the second most points in the league at 81.3 points per game. The Rattlers are one of two LSC teams with five players averaging double figures in scoring, led by guard Davion Coleman's 15.0 points per game.

SCOUTING SEU: The Hilltoppers are 6-3 at home and are 12-5, 5-3 LSC. St. Edward's leads the league in free throw percentage at 79.7 percent. Forward Sean Elkington is fourth in the LSC in both scoring and rebounding at 19.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 16-13 all-time against St. Mary's and 15-14 versus St. Edward's.
