SAN ANGELO, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball dropped a pair of games Saturday at No. 3 Angelo State, dropping the opener of the doubleheader, 16-1, before suffering a 6-0 defeat in the nightcap.
Outfielder Michael Brinton provided the only offense of the day for the Lions, hitting a solo home run in the fifth inning of game one. First baseman Dakota Peters had the other hit for the Lions in game one with a double.
Riley Lowry threw 3.1 innings in relief, striking out six while allowing one run on three hits.
Starter Brayden Johnson slowed the Rams' bats in game two, but Angelo State still proved too much for the Lions. Johnson allowed six runs – four earned – on nine hits while striking out eight over five innings.
Brinton and catcher Nico Patrick each had two hits for the Lions in game two.
The teams conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
