FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball embarks on a three-game road trip this week, continuing conference play while also adding in an exhibition game.
The Lions will travel to Angelo State for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against the Rams Thursday before visiting UT Permian Basin Saturday for a 1 p.m. start. UAFS will end the road trip Sunday at noon with an exhibition game at NCAA I UT San Antonio.
Thursday's and Saturday's games will be on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network while Sunday's game will be on ESPN+. Live stats for all three games will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions started LSC play 0-2 after dropping a pair of home contests to West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian.
FINDING A RHYTHM: After scoring just two points in the opening two games, guard Payton Brown has scored in double figures in each of the last five games, including two 20-point performances.
RECORD WATCH: Brown ranks eighth all-time with 923 career points.
SCOUTING ASU: The Rams have won four in a row and are 5-1, 2-0 LSC. ASU is first in the league in opponent field goal and three-point percentage. Guard Keyshawn Embery-Simpson paces ASU with 19.3 points per game while LSC Preseason Player of the Year Kevon Godwin averages 16.5 points for the Rams.
SCOUTING UTPB: UTPB is 5-2, 1-1 LSC and leads the LSC in scoring defense at 64.0 points per game while going 3-0 at home. Guard Zy Wright leads five Falcons averaging double figures with 13.1 points per game. Forward Lathaniel Bastian averages 13.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for UTPB.
SCOUTING UTSA: The Roadrunners have won their last two games and are 4-4 overall and 3-1 at home. This game will count for UTSA but serve as an exhibition for the Lions. Guard Christian Tucker leads UTSA with 12.5 points per game.
THE SERIES: UAFS is 1-4 against Angelo State and 14-7 versus UT Permian Basin.
