FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis has drawn St. Mary's in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Championship, set to begin Thursday at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.
The Lions earned the fifth seed in the tournament while the Rattlers are the four seed. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the semifinals Friday to take on the winner of top-seeded Midwestern State and eighth-seeded Dallas Baptist.
The championship is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. with the winner earning the league's automatic qualification to the 2022 NCAA Division II South Central Regional held May 9-10.
Second seed UT Tyler will face seventh seed UT Permian Basin and third seed Cameron will face six seed Western New Mexico on the other half of the bracket.
UAFS faced St. Mary's earlier this season in San Antonio, with the Rattlers claiming a 5-2 win. Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux teamed up for a win at number three doubles, while Ramchane and Juan Rosello earned singles wins. Rosello, Ramchane and Wian Van Dyk all had their singles matches go three sets.
The Lions finished the regular season with a 5-9, 3-4 LSC record.
