PORTALES, N. M. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball was shut out, 10-0, in its series opener Friday at Eastern New Mexico.
The Greyhounds scored nine runs in the first three innings, including five in the second.
UAFS had its best chance to score in the fifth when it loaded the bases with one out, subsequently grounded into a double play to end the inning.
First baseman Nolan Riley led the Lions at the plate with two hits. Brayden Ross pitched the last six innings for the Lions, allowing three runs on six hits with six strikeouts.
The series continues Saturday at 3 p.m. with a doubleheader.
