Men's Basketball returns home to host Eagles, Mustangs

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball returns home this week to face Oklahoma Christian and Western New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The Lions will face the Eagles on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with the contest against the Mustangs scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network as well as broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS went toe-to-toe with the top team in the country in Lubbock Christian before dropping a 57-51 decision, then saw a second half lead get way in a 62-59 loss at Eastern New Mexico.

LEAGUE LEADER: Guard Matthew Wilson continues to lead the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 20.7 points per game. He is the only player in the league averaging more than 20 points per game and leads the league with 3.7 made threes per game.

HELPING HAND: Guard Evan Anderson is second in the LSC with 5.6 assists per game and second in assists/turnover ratio at 4.0. UAFS is second with a 1.43 ratio.

1,000: Guard Matthew Wilson became the sixth player in the NCAA II era to reach 1,000 career points at UAFS by scoring four points in the first half at Lubbock Christian.

MAGIC NUMBER: UAFS has shot at least 44.0 percent from the floor in all eight of its wins, but is 0-7 when shooting less than that mark.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Thursday will mark the first time that Western New Mexico will visit the Stubblefield Center.

RECORD WATCH: Senior guard Matthew Wilson sits 5th with 1,029 points at UAFS. Wilson also is 5th in field goals made (368) and fourth in three-pointers made (172). Forward Chris Rollins is 9th in rebounds with 384. Guard Evan Anderson is 5th in assists with 208.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 11-8 all-time against Oklahoma Christian and 0-1 versus Western New Mexico.

SCOUTING OC: The Eagles are 4-10, 1-3 LSC after having lost their last three games. Guard Drew Tennial paces the Eagle offense with 13.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING WNMU: The Mustangs are 7-3 overall, but just 3-3 against NCAA II competition. They have yet to play a conference game with their scheduled opening weekend postponed. Guard Jordan Doss is one of two players averaging more than 14.0 points per game with averages of 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. Guard Tony Avalos averages 14.9 points per game for the Mustangs.
