CONWAY, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Tennis started the 2021 season off with a bang, sweeping NCAA III member Hendrix College, 9-0, on the road Saturday.
The Lady Lions (1-0) lost only five sets on the afternoon, with six of the nine individual matches being clean sweeps.
In doubles action, Petra Csizmadia and Joanna Potet teamed up for an 8-2 win at number one. At number two, Bianca Koen and Milena Achalmov earned at 8-0 win, along with Chloe Ruppanner and Camila Romero at number three.
Koen, Potet and Ruppanner each blanked their opponents at numbers 1-3, respectively, sealing the win for UAFS.
With the win in hand, Achlamov, Csizmadia and Romero all played pro sets. Achlamov won 8-0 at number four, while Csizmadia won 8-2 at number five. In her collegiate debut, Romero won 8-1 at flight six.
The Lady Lions will have ten days to prepare for their next match against John Brown University February 16 at the Fort Smith Athletic Club, as their scheduled match against Southeastern Oklahoma State has been postponed due to inclement weather in the forecast.
