Lions to host top-10 Lubbock Christian this weekend

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball will welcome a top-10 opponent to the Stubblefield Center this weekend, as No. 7/10 Lubbock Christian visits Fort Smith.

The Chaps will put their undefeated record on the line against the Lions at 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. General admission tickets are available at the UAFS Box Office.

Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network and be broadcast on KHGG Fox Sports Radio 103.5 FM. Live stats will be available on uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS was handed a home loss by shorthanded Oklahoma Christian Monday, falling 75-56 to the Eagles at the Stubblefield Center.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Senior forward Chris Rollins collected his fourth double-double on the year with 13 points and 10 boards in the win over Cameron. His four double-doubles rank tied for 12th in the NCAA.

AMONG THE LSC: Senior forward Chris Rollins and guards Payton Brown and Matthew Wilson are all in the top-20 in the LSC in scoring. Rollins is 10th, while Brown is 11th and Wilson is 18th. Rollins is fourth in rebounding at 9.0 per game and continues to lead the league in field goal percentage at 64.9 percent.

BALL SECURITY: Sophomore guard Evan Anderson is sixth in the LSC in assist to turnover ratio. He averages 3.4 assists per game and has a ratio of 2.1.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Freshman guard Payton Brown was named the 5NEWS Athlete of the Week last week for his 38-point performance in the win over Cameron.

38: Payton Brown's 38 points are the second most in an LSC game this season. B.J. Maxwell of St. Edward's scored 47 points in a game against Midwestern State.

RECORD WATCH: Senior guard Matthew Wilson is currently 6th on the all-time list for three pointers made, as he how has 97 career makes at UAFS. DeVaunta Thomas is 5th with 137.

SCOUTING LCU: The Chaparrals are in the top three in multiple statistical categories in the LSC, as they have started the season 10-0 and are ranked No. 7/10 in the country. Senior forward Parker Hicks leads the Chaps with 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES: Lubbock Christian leads the series 7-5, with the first meeting in 2014. LCU has won the last three, with UAFS winning the three prior to that. The Chaps won last season in Fort Smith, 69-67.
