Men's Basketball concludes regular season versus St. Edward's

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball concludes its regular season Friday and Saturday by hosting St. Edward's University in a pair of Lone Star Conference matchups at the Stubblefield Center.

Tipoff for Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Saturday's Homecoming game set for 4 p.m.

General admission tickets are on sale at the UAFS Box Office for $8. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available for both contests on uafortsmithlions.com, as well.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: The Lions upset No. 13 Dallas Baptist, 72-70, on Sunday evening, but dropped a road contest at Oklahoma Christian, 76-70, on Tuesday.

100: UAFS recorded its 100th conference win since becoming a NCAA II member with the defeat of Dallas Baptist Sunday.

LSC POTW: Freshman guard Payton Brown was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring 25 points and grabbing six rebounds in the upset win over Dallas Baptist. He was 5-for-9 from beyond the arc.

RANKED WIN: The win over Dallas Baptist was the first win over a ranked opponent since February 2018, also against Dallas Baptist.

AMONG THE LSC: Freshman guard Payton Brown is third in the LSC in scoring at 20.7 points per game while senior forward Chris Rollins is 14th at 15.2 points per game. Rollins is 4th in rebounding at 8.4 per game. Sophomore guard Evan Anderson is eighth in assists at 3.8 per game and fifth in assist to turnover ratio at 2.3.

MR. EFFICIENCY: Freshman guard Payton Brown leads the LSC in free throw percentage at 92.0 percent, is seventh in three-point percentage at 40.2 percent and 11th in field goal percentage at 46.8 percent. Senior forward Chris Rollins leads the league in field goal percentage at 63.0 percent.

POINT RATING SYSTEM: UAFS is currently 11th in the LSC Men's Basketball Rankings with a rating of 2.731 through games as of February 21st. The top eight teams in the rankings qualify for the LSC Tournament. The current rating of eighth place St. Mary's is 3.125.

RECORD WATCH: Senior guard Matthew Wilson is currently 6th on the all-time list for three pointers made, as he how has 108 career makes at UAFS. DeVaunta Thomas is 5th with 137. Senior forward Chris Rollins is currently shooting 63.0 percent from the field, ahead of Bo Franklin's record of 62.0 percent in 2013-14. Brown is currently shooting 92.0 percent from the free throw line, on pace to beat Seth Youngblood's 88.9 percent in 2016-17.

SCOUTING SEU: St. Edward's snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday with an 87-70 win over St. Mary's to improve its record to 9-6, 9-6 LSC. Senior forward B.J. Maxwell leads the Hilltoppers at 19.9 points per game while junior guard Daniel Venzant averages 17.0 points per game. Senior forward Logan Cook pulls down 9.3 boards per game.

THE SERIES: UAFS leads the all-time series with the Hilltoppers, 13-10. However, St. Edward's has won the last three meetings, all by double figures.
