Men's Basketball aims for five straight versus DBU

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball will seek its fifth consecutive win as it takes on Dallas Baptist University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The game will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network as well as KHGG-FM 103.5 will live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS earned two more wins by defeating Harding, 80-61, on the road and Southwestern Christian, 90-51 at the Stubblefield Center.

STREAKING: The Lions have won four games in a row after starting the season 0-2. This streak matches the four-game win streak to start the 2019-20 season. The longest win streak is 10 games near the end of the 2016-17 season.

LEAGUE LEADER: Guard Matthew Wilson leads the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 20.2 points per game. Wilson has scored at least 20 points in each of the four wins.

HELPING HAND: UAFS dished out a season-high 26 assists in the win at Harding. Guard Evan Anderson is fourth in the LSC in assists at 4.7 per game. He is also fourth in assist/turnover ratio at 3.5. Matthew Wilson is seven in assist/turnover ratio at 2.3. UAFS has the top assist/turnover ratio in the LSC at 1.52.

GETTING DEFENSIVE: UAFS ranks fourth in the LSC in allowing 60.3 points per game. It is also fourth in opponent field goal percentage at 39.6 percent.

80: The Lions have scored at least 80 points in each of their four wins. They only reached that mark three times in each of the last two seasons.

RECORD WATCH: Senior guard Matthew Wilson sits 8th with 839 points at UAFS. Wilson also is 8th in field goals made (300) and tied for fifth in three-pointers made (137). Forward Chris Rollins is 10th in rebounds with 318. Guard Evan Anderson is 10th in assists with 152.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 13-12 all-time against Dallas Baptist. UAFS won the only meeting last season, upsetting the No. 13 Patriots, 72-70, at the Stubblefield Center.

SCOUTING DBU: The Patriots started the year 3-0 and with an upset of No. 4 Colorado Mesa, but have since lost back-to-back games. Guard Cameron Kahn leads DBU with 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
