FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball rolled to its fourth straight win Monday, defeating Southwestern Christian University, 90-51, at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions (4-2) held the Lions to just 20 points on just 30.8 percent shooting in the second half while shooting 65.2 percent themselves. UAFS shot 58.5 percent overall, its third game this season shooting above 50 percent.
Guard Matthew Wilson led the UAFS offense once again, scoring an efficient 20 points in just 23 minutes. He shot 7-for-12 from the floor and 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Forward Chris Rollins added 16 points and four blocks while going 8-for-9 from the charity stripe.
The Eagles had their only lead of the game at 2-0 before guard Evan Anderson gave UAFS the lead with a triple on the ensuing possession. UAFS extended the lead to 13 midway through the first half on a triple by Wilson before the Eagles cut the deficit to 28-24 four minutes later.
But the Lions went on a 7-0 run and took a 45-31 lead into the break. UAFS then got the lead to 30 points with 12:35 remaining and ended the game on a 9-0 run for the final margin.
Guards Courtney Murrell and Cameron Bush chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Forward Justus Cooper scored eight points and had a team-high six rebounds while guard Evan Anderson had six points and five assists.
The defense forced 17 turnovers and scored 23 points while also winning the battle in points in the paint, 34-26.
Next up for UAFS is a nonconference matchup against Lone Star Conference foe Dallas Baptist at 7:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
