Men's Basketball continues nonconference slate at Harding

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball will return to the court Saturday after a week off from a game, visiting Harding University in a nonconference matchup.

Tipoff for Saturday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. UAFS will also face Southwestern Christian University Monday at 7 p.m. at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center. Broadcast and live stat links for both games can be found on uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The Lions went 2-0 last week by defeating University of the Ozarks, 90-33, and Henderson State, 81-80, in overtime at the Stubblefield Center.

MARGIN OF VICTORY: The Lions' 57-point win over Ozarks is tied for the fourth largest margin of victory in program history. UAFS won by 58 versus Champion Baptist College in 2012, 73 versus Shepherd Tech in 2011 and 65 over Hillsdale College in 2010.

POTW: Guard Matthew Wilson was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after hitting the game-winning three against Henderson State at the buzzer and averaging 22.5 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting.

62.5: UAFS is fourth in the LSC in allowing just 62.5 points per game.

RECORD WATCH: Wilson has scored 789 points in a UAFS uniform, ranking ninth all-time, 10 points behind Josh Simmons for eighth. He is also ninth in field goals made (282) and sixth in made three pointers (126). Forward Chris Rollins sits just outside the 10 in rebounds with 310. Guard Evan Anderson is 10th in assists with 139.

THE SERIES: This will be only the second all-time meeting between UAFS and Harding, with the Bisons winning the lone matchup in 2019. Monday will be the first matchup between the Lions and Eagles.

SCOUTING HU: Harding is 2-2 on the season, but 0-2 against NCAA II competition. The Bisons are led by center Taylor Currie and guard Stetson Smithson. Currie is averaging 22.3 points and 8.5 rebounds, while Smithson is averaging 16.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING SWC: Southwestern Christian is an NAIA opponent that will enter Monday with a 3-2 record. Luiz Machado Jr. paces the Eagles offense with 22.3 points per game, including scoring 38 points in the Eagles' season opener.
