FORT SMITH, Ark. – Four players scored in double figures Thursday as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball throttled University of the Ozarks, 90-33, at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
Guard Matthew Wilson led the Lions with 21 points, while guard Daryl McElrath chipped in with 17 off the bench. Guard Cameron Bush scored 11 points, with forward Chris Rollins scoring 10. Half of UAFS's 90 points came from its bench.
UAFS shot 60 percent (39-for-65) from the field and outrebounded the Eagles, 48-23. The Lions scored 54 points in the paint and had 21 points off 13 turnovers.
The Lions started the game on a 9-0 run and led by 21 at the half. After an Eagle three cut the lead to 17 early in the second, UAFS answered with a 30-0 run spanning seven minutes to lead by 47.
UAFS then closed the final seven minutes of the game with a 16-1 run.
The UAFS defense was locked in, holding the Eagles to 23.5 percent shooting, including just 16.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Guard Evan Anderson scored nine points, while reserve forward David Ekezie had eight. Forward Justus Cooper led the Lions with seven boards while also scoring seven points.
UAFS continues its stretch of six of seven games at home with Henderson State University Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
