UAFS baseball team has dropped two games on the road as the Lions fell to Oklahoma Christian Eagles during Saturday's doubleheader matchup in Edmond, Okla. Lions lost the first game by the score of 4-5 while also losing the second game by 1-4.
By losing these games Lions are now 13-8 on the season heading into the final game of the weekend against the Eagles.
Game 1: UAFS 4, OC 5
In the first game of the day it was the Eagles that hit first with a run in the first inning to take en early lead in the game. Lions fought right back with two runs in the third, one in fifth and one in sixth inning.
Nolan Riley started things off with a sacrifice fly driving
Cash Balentine in for the first run. The
Max Frazier singled to the short stop driving
Morgan Crenshaw in for another run, allowing Lions to take the lead.
In the fifth inning,
Tristan Kalina homered to the left field to score the third run for the Lions while
Cash Balentine doubled to the left, driving
Baxter Mays in for 4-1. After that it was all Eagles who scored four runs in the sixt inning to set the final score for the game.
As a team Lions scored four runs on six hits in 23 at bats. UAFS was lead by
Tristan Kalina with two hits, one run and one RBI ins the game while Balentine added one run, one hit and one RBI for the game.
On the defensive end, UAFS pitching staff allowed five runs on 10 hits while recording six strikeouts.
Brayden Johnson pitched 5.2 innings, recording all six strikeouts for the Lions and allowing all five earned runs. He also recorded his first loss of the season (1-1).
Game 2: UAFS 1, OC 4
In the second game which started at 3:57 p.m. and lasted 1:42, Lions struggled on the offensive end, scoring only one run in the fourth inning on
Morgan Crenshaw 's home run. Oklahoma Christiann scored four runs, of which three came in the sixth inning, to take the game two from the Lions.
UAFS scored one run on five hits in 24 at bats. Crenshaw,
Dylan Hurt, Kalina,
Ryan Flake and
Cash Balentine recorded one hit each for the game but that was not enough for the Lions to score few more runs.
The Lions' pitching staff, led by
Trevor Johnson, allowed four runs on eight hits while recording four strikeouts for the game. He recorded his second loss of the season (1-2).
UAFS baseball team is now preparing for the final game of the weekend against the Eagles starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Edmond, Okla.
