Lions Conclude Weekend With A High-Scoring Loss To Eagles

UAFS baseball team has concluded the conference road trip series with a loss as the Lions fell to Oklahoma Christian Eagles in a high-scoring matchup by the score of 11-9. After winning the first game of the weekend, Lions went 0-3 in the following three games to end the weekend 1-3 in series against the Eagles.

UAFS is now 13-9 on the season heading back for another home series.

Today's game was a back-and-forth affair as there were five lead changes on both sides, and that last change was the one where the Eagles took the league and put the game out of the Lions' reach at 11-9. It started out well for the Lions as Cash Balentine scored off Nolan Riley 's single to the center field. Eagles fought back in the same inning with a homerun which helped them score two runs to take the lead from the Lions.

The second inning started out well for the Lions as Keesler Nye scored  off Balentine's sacrifice fly while Morgan Crenshaw score off Hurt's single. OC scored again in the third to even out the score at 3-3. The game was going back and forth until the fourth inning, at the score of 5-5, when Lions started pulling away scoring five unanswered runs over the course of three innings to put the score at 9-5. UAFS however did not enjoy that lead for too long.

Oklahoma Christian scored six more runs over the following three innings, including a homerun which earned them three runs in the eighth inning to set the final score at 11-9.

UAFS as a team scored nine runs on 13 hits in 38 at bats. The Lions were led by Nolan Riley with two runs, two hits, and two RBIs followed by Morgan Crenshaw with two runs and three hits. Logan Easley also recorded two hits and two RBIs to help lead the Lions' offensive effort.

Four players pitched for the Lions in this game. As a team UAFS allowed 11 runs on 12 hits while also allowing eight walks to their opponent. The Lions also recorded 12 strikeouts, one more than their opponents, and were led by Cooper Van Kooten (5).

UAFS baseball team will be back in action next weekend as the Lions host Cameron starting on Friday at 3 p.m. at Crowder Field. Live broadcast and live stats will be available for these series.
