Lions Start The Road Series With A Win

UAFS baseball team has started off the weekend series on the road with a big win as the Lions defeated Oklahoma Christian by the score of 6-. The Lions are now 13-6 on the season and in the conference play, heading into three more matchups against the Eagles. 

No teams have scored any runs until the fourth when the Lions opened the floodgates as Nolan Riley homered to the left field and scored the first run for the Lions. After that Lions scored five more runs to put the score at 6-0. Cash Balentine doubled and drove Logan Easley and Brooks Sunny in for two more runs. Following that play Balentine scored an unearned run on second baseman's error himself. Trent Powell singled to the left field and Tristan Kalina singled to the right allowing Dylan Hurt and Riley to score another two runs. 

Eagles responded scoring three more runs in the fifth innings, and adding two more runs in the seventh to put the score at 6-5 making the game very interesting in the final two innings. 

As a team, UAFS scored six runs on eight hits in 34 at bats. The Lions were led by Nolan Riley with two runs, one hit and one RBI and Dylan Hurt with  one run and two hits. Brooks Sunnny and Logan Easley added added one run and one hit to conclude Lions' overall great performance.

The pitching staff performed well, allowing eight hits and five runs while recording seven strikeouts. Drew Young pitched 6.1 innings allowing eight hits and five runs and earning his fifth victory of the year (5-1). Foster Pace pitched the final two innings at the score 6-5 for the Lions, allowing no runs, no hits, and recording four strikeouts to earn his first save of the season.

UAFS baseball team will continue the weekend against Eagles with tomorrow's doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. in Edmond, Okla. Live stats and live video broadcast are available for both games of the doubleheader.
