UAFS men's basketball team has recorded a very important win on the road as the Lions defeated UT Permian Basin by the score of 78-75.
Brian Halums and
Matthew Wilson combined for 62 points to lead the Lions' offense in this game. Halums also added team-high and season-high 17 rebounds to conclude an outstanding performance.
The Lions are now 10-12 overall on the season and 6-10 in conference play.
Offensively, the Lions scored 78 points while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three point line and 59.3 percent from the free throw line. The leading scorers for UAFS were Halums (42) and Wilson (20) while
Charles Botchway added 10 points. The Lions distributed seven assists led by
Evan Anderson (4). UAFS also scored 36 points in the paint and 12 points in the fast breaks.
On the defensive end, the Lions allowed their opponent 75 points on 51.9 percent shooting from the field, 31.8 percent from the three point line and 80 percent from the charity stripe. The Lions outrebounded the Falcons with 39 total rebounds, 22 defensive and 17 offensive, led by Haums (17) and Botchway (7) while
Chris Rollins added four rebounds total. UAFS forced 17 turnovers and scored 15 points off those. As a team Lions recorded seven steals, led by Anderson and Halums with two each..
