UAFS men's basketball team has recorded a big win on Thursday night as the Lions defeated UT Tyler Patriots by the score of 59-54. This was a crucial win for the Lions as they are still fighting for the Lone Star Conference tournament placement. UAFS was led in this game by
Brian Halums with 18 points on 6-12 shooting from the field while also adding five rebounds and three assists . The Lions are now 12-15 overall on the season and 8-13 in conference play.
Offensively, the Lions scored 59 points while shooting 42 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from the three point line and 76.9 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Halums (18) and
Matthew Wilson (14) while
Evan Anderson added nine points, all scored from beyond the arc. As a team, the Lions scored 22 points in the paint while their bench contributed six points. UAFS distributed 13 assists and were led by
Charles Botchway with six.Â
On the defensive end, UAFS held UT Tyler to 54 points on 40 percent shooting from the field, 37.5 percent from downtown and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. The Lions grabbed 35 rebounds and were led by
Charles Botchway (7),
Braden Boyer (6) and Halums (5). UAFS forced nine turnovers from their opponents and scored eight points off those while also recording three steals, led by
Chris Rollins (2).Â
UAFSÂ men's basketball team is now preparing for the final home game of the season and the senior day as the Lions host A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena in Stubblefield Center. UAFS will be looking to get a revenge after losing their first matchup against A&M-C 75-83 on the road in January. The Lions will honor three seniors -
Seth Hawley,
Brian Halums and
