Halums Powers The Lions Over Rams

UAFS men's basketball team has recorded a huge win behind another Brian Halums' historic performance as  the Lions defeated Angelo State Rams by the score of 83-82. Brian Halums scored 45 points on 17-30 shooting from the field and 5-9 from downtown while also adding seven rebounds to power the Lions over Angelo State. In the final minute of the game Halums recorded a block, a steal, and two big-time three pointers to close out an outstanding game all-around.

UAFS head coach Jim Boone could not help but compliment his team's fighting spirit, "We're not always pretty, but we sure have been gritty. Tonight was a pure testament to this team's heart and grit." Boone continued by acknowledging a tough opponent in tonight's matchup, "Angelo State is an outstanding basketball team, very talented, and well coached. There were several times that they tried to deliver a knockout punch and we just kept picking ourselves up off the matt and got right back at it."

"I loved our effort and relentless attitude, and of course I would be remiss not to mention the lift that Brian and Matthew provided us in the second half," concluded Boone.

The Lions are now 11-13 overall on the season and 7-11 in conference play.

Offensively, the Lions scored 83 points on 54.5 percent shooting from the field, 52.4 percent from the three point line and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe.
