UAFS men's basketball team has started the weekend off with a loss as the Lions fell to Midwestern State Mustangs by the score of 71-79. The Lions were led by
Brian Halums with 42 points and five rebounds while shooting 14-27 from the field. This was the third 40+ game for the Hollandale, Miss. native this season. UAFS is now 11-14 overall on the season and 7-12 in conference play. The Lions are currently in the hunt for the top 12 spot which will lead them to the conference tournament.
Offensively, the Lions scored 71 points while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 25 percent from the three point line and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Halums (42), MatthewWilson (17) and
Evan Anderson (7) while as a team they scored 28 points in the paint and only scored three points off the bench. The Lions distributed 12 assists led by
Charles Botchway (7).
On the defensive end, the Lions allowed 79 points while their opponent shot 48.1 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from downtown and 78.9 percent from the free throw line. UAFS recorded 32 rebounds (13-19) and were led by
Matt Morgan (8) and hris Rollins (6). The Lions forced nine turnovers and scored 16 points off those while also recording five steals, led by Halums (3).
UAFS men's basketball team will continue their conference roadtrip as the Lions now travel to Lawton, Okla. to take on Cameron at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Live stats and live video stream will be available for this game.
