UAFS baseball team has started off the weekend series on the road with a great win as the Lions defeated Tarleton Texans by the score of 7-1. The Lions are now 5-2 on the season and in the conference play, heading into three more matchups against the Texans.
The Lions started the game off on a great note, scoring their first runs at top of the first inning as Brooks Sunnny singled to the left side and drove
Tristan Kalina in. Following that play,
Dylan Hurt scored as
Nolan Riley grounded out to the second base. The Lions scored another three runs unanswered until the fifth innings when the Texans scored their first run of the game to make it 5-1.
The Lions concluded their scoring performance in this game as
Ryan Reeves scored on a wild pitch and
Cash Balentine scored on
Dylan Hurts' double to the left field line. Overall the Lions scored seven runs on 10 hits over 35 at-bats.
UAFS was led by
Dylan Hurt with two runs and two hits to go along with an RBI.
Nolan Riley also added three RBIs, one hit and one run on five at-bats.
The pitching staff performed on an outstanding level for the Lions with
Drew Young earning his second win of the year (2-0) while pitching five innings and allowing only one run on six hits.
Nico Sharp pitched four innings and allowed no runs on six hits to complete an overall great performance by the Lions.
