UAFS baseball team has started the season on an outstanding note as the Lions defeated Texas A&M International in the season-opener in Laredo, Texas by the score of 9-4. The Lions thus win the first game of the road series against the Dustdevils as they already prepare for the next game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Redshirt-sophomore second baseman
Logan Easley led the Lions with four hits in four at-bats, while accounting for four RBIs and scoring two. Redshirt junior pinch-hitter
Lane Grogan also added two RBIs in only one plate appearance. The UAFS offense was outstanding in the fifth and seventh inning, scoring three in each.
Sophomore pitcher
Cash Balentine threw 3.1 innings allowing only one run on three hits.
Drew Young got the win, throwing just three innings and allowing one unearned and one earned run on five hits.
This was the first of the three-game series that UAFS baseball team gets to face TAMIU. The Lions will be looking to clinch the series on Saturday with the second win of the weekend.
