UAFS men's basketball team has played another close game, this time on the road, and lost in the final minutes as the Lions fell to A&M-Commerce by the score of 75-83. Senior guard
Brian Halums made a statement in the first 12 minutes as he scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Halums concluded the game with 44 points on 17-22 shooting from the field, 13 rebounds and three assists. However, Halums' outstanding performance was not quite enough to boost the young UAFS team past A&M-Commerce. The Lions are now 6-10 overall on the season and 2-8 in conference play.
Offensively the Lions scored 75 points while shooting 54.7 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three point line and 57.1 percent from the free throw line. Halums led the Lions in scoring with 44 points which accounted for more than half of the UAFS scoring. Anderson also scored nine points while
Chris Rollins added eight. The Lions recorded 14 assists, led by Botchway (3) and Halums (3).
On the defensive end, the Lions allowed 83 points to their opponent on 47.6 percent shooting from the field, 32.3 percent from the three point line and 72.2 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS grabbed 28 rebounds, led by Halums (13) while
Charles Botchway, Rollins and
Matt Morgan added three rebounds each. The Lions forced seven turnovers, while also recording four steals, led by Botchway (2).
