UAFS men's basketball has bounced back with a big win on the road as the Lions defeated UT Tyler by the score of 66-49. Lions have thus concluded the weekend with a 1-1 record, helping them improve to 7-10 overall on the season and 3-8 in conference play. Wilson led the way for the Lions with 25 points and 12 rebounds while Halums added a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Offensively the Lions scored 66 points on 24-48 shooting from the field (50 percent), 29.4 percent from the three point line and 59.1 percent from the free throw line. The Lions controlled this game offensively for the most part and have passed the ball well with 14 assists, led by
Charles Botchway (7). The Lions dominated the paint with 30 points in the area of the court.
Defensively, the Lions held the Patriots to 49 points on only 28.8 percent shooting from the field, 25 percent from the three point line, and 78.9 percent from the stripe. UAFS won the rebounding battle with 36 rebounds, led by Halums (12) and
Chris Rollins (7) while Wilson added 5 rebounds. The Lions forced 10 turnovers, and scored 14 points off those while also recording five steals, of which Halums had four. The Lions protected the rim on a ahigh level with five blocks, led by Rollins with two.
