UAFS men's basketball team concludes the 2019 on an unpleasant note as the Lions lost to West Texas A&M by the score of 56-84.
Matthew Wilson led the team with 16 points and five rebounds but that was not enough to take down the NABC No. 7 and D2SIDA No. 10 nationally-ranked Buffaloes.
The Lions are now 5-6 overall in the season and 1-4 in the conference. UAFS is currently on a five-game losing streak and will be looking to bounce back in 2020.
Offensively, the Lions shot 45 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. UAFS team was lead in scoring by Wilson (16) while
Evan Anderson and
Braden Boyer added 10 points each. The Lions also recorded nine assists and were led by
Charles Botchway (5).
Defensively, the Lions allowed their opponents a 50 field goal percentage, 40 three point shooting percentage and 72.7 percent shooting from the charity line. UAFS also grabbed 25 rebounds and were led by Wilson (5) and
Matiss Sivins (5). The Lions forced 12 turnovers while recording eight steals, and were led by Anderson (2) and Boyer (2).
UAFS men's basketball will continue their conference road trip series in San Antonio, Texas as the Lions take on St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m. on January 2 at Bill Greehey Arena. Both
