UAFS men's basketball team has recorded its first loss of the season as the Lions lost to Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville by the score of 61-66. The Lions are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the conference play.
Offensively, the Lions were led in scoring by Mathew Willson (14) and
Brian Halums (14) followed closely by
Charles Botchway (12), while
Chris Rollins and
Matt Morgan recorded eight points each. Willson, Botchway and Halums also recorded two assists each. As a team, UAFS shot 50 percent from the field (23-46), 18.8 percent from the three point line (3-16) and 66 percent from the free thriw line (12-18).
Defensively, Lions held Javelinas to a 44.7 shooting percentage from the field (21-47), 27.3 percent from beyond the arc (6-22) and 64.3 percent from the free throw line (18-28). Lions also forced 17 turnovers and recorded six steals.
