UAFS sophomore Scott East has been named the Heartland Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance this past weekend in the annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.

East, who is from Elkins, Ark., covered the 8k course in a time of 27:55.1 and finished 293rd in the race that featured more than 400 runners from the junior college to the NCAA Division I level.

UAFS finished 21st in the college division.
