Hurt begins his fourth season as assistant coach.

A native of Bryant, Ark., Hurt played shortstop for four seasons for the Lions. He batted 0.277 for his career, including a career-best 0.324 as a senior, with 30 doubles, one triple, one home run and 58 RBIs.

He was a four-time All-Heartland Conference Gold Glove Team selection and was named Second-Team All-Heartland Conference as a senior.
