KANSAS CITY - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball outside hitter Lydia Pitts has been selected as the MIAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Pitts becomes first Lion to earn a volleyball MIAA weekly award.
Pitts led the Lions to a 5-0 week, hitting .309 with an MIAA-leading 63 kills to go with 68 digs. In the four matches at Kentucky Wesleyan, Pitts hit .364 with 56 kills and 61 digs, recording four double doubles.
In a sweep over Kentucky Wesleyan, Pitts hit .414 with 14 kills and 16 digs and followed that up with 15 kills and 13 digs in a five-set win over McKendree. On day two in Kentucky, Pitts hit .455 with 12 kills and 13 digs in a sweep over Davis & Elkins before completing the weekend with 15 kills and 19 digs on a .326 attack percentage.
The Lions are back in action this weekend for four matches in Montgomery, Alabama.
