FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball cruised past Northeastern State Tuesday night, sweeping the RiverHawks 25-11, 25-18, 25-9 at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions hit .265 for the match while holding the RiverHawks to -.045. UAFS had its best set in set one, hitting .300 and held the RiverHawks to a negative percentage in sets one and three.
UAFS used a 5-0 run in the opening set to gain a 10-3 lead and never looked back before scoring the final six points of the set and 10 of the last 11.
Northeastern was within one at 12-11 in set two, but the Lions used a 5-0 run for a 17-11 advantage. The Lions then held off a RiverHawk rally for a 2-0 lead.
The UAFS defense held the RiverHawks to -.179 in set three as they cruised to a sweep after scoring eight of the final nine points.
Grace Marshall and Codi Jackson each had 11 kills to lead the Lions with Marshall hitting a blistering .476. Aspen Olson hit .381 with 10 kills while adding four blocks.
Mayli Whetter dished out 31 assists in the win to go with nine digs and Abbey Jackson recorded a team-high 16 digs.
The Lions had seven aces to none for the RiverHawks and had an 8-4 advantage in blocks.
Next up for UAFS is a trip to No. 15 Washburn Friday at 6 p.m.
