ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's could not overcome a second quarter run as the Lions dropped an 80-60 decision at Missouri Western on Thursday.
The Lions led 18-14 after the opening quarter after holding the Griffons to 23.5 percent shooting and then used a 6-0 to double that lead to eight at 26-18 in the opening minutes of the second quarter.
However, the Griffons made seven threes in the second and shot 52.6 percent as they closed the half on a 27-2 run over the final seven minutes.
UAFS outscored the Griffons, 50-49, in the first quarter and second half, but was outscored 31-10 in the second quarter.
Guard Keytonna Ross was the lone Lion in double figures with 17 points while guard Telisha Brown had nine points and guard Jordan Gregory added eight points and six rebounds.
UAFS is back in action at Northwest Missouri State at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for its final road game of the season.
