LIBERTY, Mo. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball was swept in a doubleheader Sunday at William Jewell as the Cardinals took two out of three in the series.
The Cardinals walked off a 3-2 win in seven innings in game one before taking the nightcap, 13-9.
UAFS will next play at Crowder Field for the first time in 2026 next weekend as the Lions open MIAA play against Emporia State with a three-game series.

The Cardinals hit a one out walk-off single to take game one of the doubleheader.
UAFS had scored first in the third on an RBI single by infielder Quinto Borders but the Cardinals answered in the bottom half of the frame. The Lions regained the lead in the top of the fifth on a solo homer by infielder Layne Sweat, but once again the Cardinals tied the game in the bottom half.
The Lions put the first two runners on in the sixth but were unable to push across the go-ahead run.
Borders had two of the six hits for the Lions in the contest. Steffan Fak started on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits with five punchouts over 4.2 innings.

The Lions took a 9-8 lead in the top of the sixth but the Cardinals scored five unanswered runs in the final three innings to take game two.
Trailing 8-6 in the sixth, outfielder Wyatt Pierce doubled and scored on an error to pull the Lions within one. Two batters later, Borders hit a two-run blast to put the Lions ahead, 9-8.
But the Cardinals scored three times in the bottom of the sixth then added single tallies in both the seventh and eighth innings.
The Cardinals scored in all eight innings while the Lions scored in the second through sixth innings.
Borders once again finished with two hits and two runs scored. Pierce and outfielder Connor Earleywine each scored twice, as well.
Garrett Smith earned the start on the mound, tossing three innings. He allowed four runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
