FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball is back in action at the Stubblefield Center this week for a pair of games as the Lions host Newman and Emporia State.
The Lions will play Newman at 5:30 on Thursday followed by Emporia State at 3:30 p.m. Friday after the game was moved up a day due to weather.
Both games will be streamed on the MIAA Network and broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5 with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com. The game against Emporia State will also be aired on 38 The Spot in Kansas City.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS was tied heading to the fourth quarter against Northeastern State before falling to the RiverHawks at home.
BLOCK PARTY: UAFS ranks sixth in the MIAA with 3.4 blocks per game. Forward Layne Kirkendoll leads the Lions with 1.1 blocks per game.
A 'KEY' PIECE: Guard Keytonna Ross has scored 14 and 10 points in the last two games, respectively. She also added four rebounds and four assists against Northeastern State.
RECORD WATCH: Kirkendoll ranks seventh all-time with 53 career blocks.
SCOUTING NU: The Jets are 7-10, 1-7 MIAA and have played just three road games all season. Newman ranks second in the MIAA with 7.6 made threes per game and third in assist/turnover ratio. Forward Jaeden McMillin leads the Jets with 15.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING ESU: The Hornets are 9-8, 3-5 MIAA with just a 1-4 record away from home. Emporia is fourth in the MIAA in both turnover margin and assists and is led offensively by guard Kaitlyn Sanders at 16.8 points per game.
THE SERIES: UAFS is 14-11 all-time against Newman and 1-4 versus Emporia State.
