FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball was tied going into the fourth quarter, but cold shooting allowed Northeastern State to take the 67-53 win at the Stubblefield Center Friday.
The Lions had battled back from a 13-point first half deficit as the Lions took their first lead at 37-36 early in the third on a pair of free throws by guard Haleigh Jackson. The RiverHawks then retook the lead and led 47-39 before the Lions closed the quarter on an 8-0 run.
However, Northeastern State scored the first 14 points of the fourth quarter before the Lions got a layup by forward Marie Rose Priscilla Wemba. UAFS shot just 18.2 percent in the quarter.
Jackson led the Lions with 11 points before fouling out while guard Keytonna Ross added 10 points and four assists. Five Lions tallied between five and seven points.
UAFS continues its three-game homestand Thursday as the Lions host Newman at 5:30 p.m.
