EMPORIA, Kan. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball was unable to overcome a slow start in a 10-3 loss to Emporia State Sunday in the series finale.
The Lions surrendered five runs in the second inning before getting on the board in the fifth on an RBI groundout by outfielder CJ Snowden.
UAFS then cut the deficit to 6-3 by scoring twice in the seventh, but the Hornets put the game out of reach with four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Infielder Jordon Helm finished with an RBI while outfielder Cooper White tallied a pair of hits.
Chase Pair got the start on the mound, allowing six runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings. Grant Edwards tossed the final 3.2 frames.
UAFS is on the road for its final series of the season at Pittsburg State.
